Meridia Review
Overview
When dieters have tried every over the counter weight loss remedy, they often resort to seeking prescription medications to help them lose more weight. Meridia is one of those medications. When Meridia was first introduced, there were commercials showing plus sized women choosing to push a portion of their meals away in an attempt to lose weight. Meridia was supposed to help then feel better about that choice and give them the power to stand up and walk away from food. But what about the fine print?
The Ingredients
Sibutramine.
The Features
Meridia no longer shows the commercials that made it so popular just a few years ago. This could be because the prescription weight loss medication just did not work. Or, the lack of publicity could be linked to the fact that Meridia may harm the user more than help.
There is a huge list of potential side effects that a dieter must understand before trying Meridia to lose weight. These include dizziness, difficulty concentrating, restlessness and increased blood pressure. In addition to the potential side effects, there is a long list of people that cannot take Meridia. These include people who:
- suffer from depression
- have a bleeding disorder
- suffer from anorexia
- take appetite suppressants
- suffer from high blood pressure
- have heart related medical problems
- suffer from seizures
and many more!
Meridia can only be taken under the care of a physician. The medication is available by prescription only and can retail for as high as $130 for a 30 day supply of the lowest dosage. Many users claims medical insurance does not cover the medication.
The Best
- None
The Worst
- The medication is very expensive and may not be covered by medical insurance.
- The list of side effects is long and scary.
- Many people cannot take Meridia.
- Over the counter medications like decongestants and cough suppressants may affect Meridia.
Final Thoughts
Meridia is not a medication with benefits that outweigh the risks. Though supplemental diet pills are not screened by the FDA, the potential side effects may be far fewer than those associated with Meridia.
